A Message From Our President!

Hi everyone! My name is Ivie Henslee, and I have the honor of serving as President of Alpha Phi at East Carolina University. Ever since I can remember, I dreamed of being part of a sorority. I loved the idea of finding a group of women who would not only share in my happiest moments, but also lift me up during the hard ones. When I went through recruitment, I was looking for a place where I could truly be myself and feel both accepted and inspired—and Alpha Phi gave me that feeling from the very first conversation.
Alpha Phi has been so much more than I could have ever imagined. It’s the laughter in our kitchen after a long day, the late-night study sessions that somehow turn into life talks, and the countless ways my sisters push me to grow as a leader and as a friend. Being part of this chapter has given me confidence, lifelong friendships, and opportunities that I’ll carry with me far beyond my college years.
Living in the Alpha Phi house has been one of my favorite parts of this experience. There’s something so special about coming home to a place full of the people who know you best. Whether it’s borrowing a dress five minutes before an event, celebrating birthdays together, or simply sitting on the couch and catching up, life in the house makes every day feel like a memory in the making.
If you’re considering going through recruitment, my biggest piece of advice is this: trust yourself and stay open to where the process takes you. The right chapter will make you feel comfortable, valued, and excited about the future. For me, that was Alpha Phi—and I hope you find a place that feels just as much like home. I can’t wait to meet you during recruitment!
